Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) Validator Course

Once a student understands the RMF and the associated CNSS documents the next logical step is an independent review by the Validator. This course focuses on this crucial role and their role within the C&A process. The course will include an in-depth review of the CNSS Instruction 1253 controls, expected results, validation methodology and associated evidence required to show IA control compliance.

The course will include discussions around the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework as well as other associated CNSS documents.

Risk Management Framework topics include:

  • Security Categorization, Security Control Selections, Security Control Supplement, Security Control Documentation, Security Control Implementation, Security Control Assessment, System Authorization, and Security Control Monitoring

  • CNSSI 4009, National Information Assurance Glossary
